Turkiye Earthquake: Situation Overview
As a result of the 7.8 earthquake that hit KahramanMaras: Death toll in Turkey reached until this moment 912 deaths and 5,383 injured and 2,818 totally destructed buildings. While the death toll in Syria 713 deaths and 648 injured and unfortunately no statistics for destroyed buildings.
We lost contact with our Mission Relief teamleader until this moment but the team is continuing on the ground to support people. Traveling to affected areas is almost impossible because of destroyed roads and highways. Big infrastructure challenges resulted of the earthquake on the level of Electricity, Internet, Water and Sanitation. The most important Medical centers in Hatay/Antakya are destroyed as one of our brothers informed us and later declared on the Media.
1 – The attached picture is for the road between Hatay (airport) to Reyhanli.
2- The pictures coming from Turkey is widely spread but we can see that pictures from Syria are still no commonly shared. Attached to this report some photos from Syria taken by our photographer in Idlib.
The situation on ground is very kiotic as people has no shelter to go to and waiting for the related authorities to prepare temporary collective shelters. One of our volunteers left Hatay to a relative on the borders because he said no one can stay in any of the buildings in Hatay since they are in any moment probable to collpase.
